Detection of Concrete Cover of Reinforcements in Reinforced Concrete Wall by Microwave Thermography with Transmission Approach

نویسندگان

چکیده

Concrete cover has an important role in reinforced concrete (RC) structures because it protects reinforcement bars from the bad effects of weather, fire, and environmental conditions that cause corrosion reinforcements. Although is essential parameter to be considered for structural health monitoring (SHM), its detection by infrared thermography, especially heating phase, not been accessed yet. The detailed analysis discussions physical phenomena, known as diffraction interference, affecting thermograms during steel microwave thermography have given key resolving this issue. present paper proposes innovative methodology with determining thickness one-layer reinforcements (12 mm diameter regularly placed at 10 cm) RC wall (1 m × 1 6.5 cm). By using transmission approach five angles antenna direction (0°, 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°) Snell–Descartes law linear law, proposed leads us deduce approximate value (37.74 mm), which close real (38 well spacing dielectric constant concrete. another new remarkable achievement methods.

Hysteretic Behavior of Conventionally Reinforced Concrete Coupling Beams in Reinforced Concrete Coupled Shear Wall

This paper presents the experimental results of four full-scale coupling beams in which only horizontal reinforcements are placed, without diagonal reinforcements, with the aim to develop reinforcement details for coupling beams used in connecting side walls in a wall-slab structural system. Each coupling beam specimen was designed according to the deep-beam design procedure that does not use d...

Cracking of Concrete Cover in Frp Reinforced Concrete Elements under Thermal Loads

Synopsis: The effects of thermal loads on the structural performance of FRP reinforced concrete elements are analyzed in this paper. The difference in transverse coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) between FRP and concrete causes the presence of tensile stresses within the concrete and, eventually, the formation of cracks when the temperature increases. As part of an inter-university experim...

Scale Effect on the Shear Strength of Reinforced Concrete Columns with Termination of Main Reinforcements

A number of RC bridge columns which are similar with the columns which suffered extensive damage during the 1995 Kobe, Japan earthquake due to premature shear failure resulting from the termination of longitudinal reinforcements with insufficient development and the lack of shear reinforcements still exist. To improve the seismic performance, some of them were retrofitted. Evaluation of shear s...
